The Land Rover. 1948-2016

The Land Rover Defender – a tribute to a legend. 68 years in production, over 2,000,000 vehicles built, designed by one man and instantly distinguishable the world over. It has ferried the Queen, farmers, workers, adventurers, the military, children, campers, diplomats, enthusiasts and explorers and is arguably the very last truly classless car to be produced and quintessentially British through and through. The end of the production line is today, the 29th of January 2016 and it marks the demise of a legend, a stalwart of British industry, a familiar face and, to most of us, a faithful old friend that although it has it’s quirks will still be there by our side come rain or shine. Here’s to you, Land Rover Defender, enjoy your retirement and thank you for the memories. 1948-2016.
