Vehicle Description

Ref: DN06TWV

SMC Over Land are proud to present this stunning “last of the line” low mileage, low owner TD5 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 9 seater finished in Stunning factory Zermatt Silver with air conditioning and an extensive service history

TD5 Background

Perhaps the most revered of all the diesel engines that have been fitted under the aluminium bonnet of the Defender since its introduction is the Td5. Rover developed the Td5 under the code name Project Storm, to create a new line of diesel engines that could be fitted to both 4x4s and road cars in various capacities and cylinder counts.
Primarily, Land Rover needed the Td5 to be tough, and to meet modern Euro-spec emissions regulations. Purists decried the change from mechanical fuel injection to Electronic Unit Injection, fearing it would be difficult or impossible to fix in the field. However, they were slowly won over as they realised how reliable the new engines were – and how much more efficient they were than the outgoing 300Tdi, which was still based on the antiquated Land Rover diesels of decades past.
With 221 lbf.ft of torque, the 2493cc Td5 offered solid gains over its predecessor. It also utilised a more modern SOHC design than the OHV unit on the 300Tdi, a larger Allied Signal GT20 turbocharger, and the aforementioned Electronic Unit Injection by Lucas. This also made the TD5 a favourite amongst tuners looking to give the defender more clout

Built in 2006 to UK Specification it was Registered new in June 2006 by Stafford Land Rover as their Demonstrator. In December of that year with just 2500 miles on the clock it was sold via the approve used programme to a Gentleman from Stafford and we still have that invoice on file along with the Sales Manger’s Business card with date of the next Golf day written on the back. Interestingly the car would remain in the same area until 2017. The next owner was a true enthusiast and worked coon the Solihull Defender production line. His owner ship of DN06TWV is documented not only in the vehicles service book but on the front page of the JLR newsletter commemorating the end of Defender Production at the beginning of 2016 as well as in a showcase book on show at the Gaydon Heritage Centre.
The car is also supplied with all booklets and instructions in the original leather book pack including stamped service book. The history file is comprehensive with communications from Land Rover, lots of invoices to support the service stamps and old MOT’s further validating the mileage. All keys are present.

The Factory paint is in fantastic order throughout with perfect factory shut lines and a deep glossy finish. The factory correct 16 inch boost alloys are unmarked. The vehicle bares none of the usual battle scars that older Defenders often wear and is a testament to the diligence of its former keepers. The underside has been waxoiled with further longevity in mind.
SMC are renowned for our work in upgrading the Defender but there is something refreshingly simple and timeless in the lines of a nicely specified standard 110. This car could be equally at home in the highlands, the Kings Road or the Cote D’Azur.,

The interior is a fabulous place to reside with the XS spec half leather heated seats, carpets throughout and a high box cubby. The factory audio is pleasingly still present. The carpets have been protected by rubber over mats including the rear.

With a just 56,894 miles, low owners and a fantastic service history this vehicle really stands out amongst its often, tired ex workhorse peers. This really is a cosseted vehicle from a fastidious owner and a far cry from usual base spec farm trucks that are on offer. Defender prices have been solidly increasing for some time and a 9 seat TD5 110 in a rare and desirable colour should prove a shrewd investment if well maintained going forward.

If you are looking for one of the very best, most attractive and original example of this British icon you need to see this car.

The vehicle will be MOT’d and fully service by SMC Heritage prior to collection for complete peace of mind

One very special high spec vehicle in fantastic unworked condition
